An extruded aluminium housing that doubles as the heatsink for a compact servo drive. Fins are part of the extrusion, so there is no thermal interface between the sink and the housing — the loss of a bolted joint is usually worth several degrees.
End faces are milled to ±0.02 mm for a flush PCB mount; mounting holes are drilled and tapped in the same fixture. Black anodising at 20 µm gives both emissivity for radiation cooling and scratch resistance.
Yes. A new die takes 10–14 days and is amortised over the first order; from the second order the profile price is lower than this catalogue part because there is no die recovery in it.
It improves it for radiation and barely affects conduction. A black anodised surface radiates considerably better than bare aluminium, which matters in still air without forced convection.
